BIOGRAPHY
Jacob Hartz serves as Managing Director at NFP Insurance Solutions. He joined the firm in 2020 to focus exclusively on serving the ultra-high net worth community with sophisticated insurance expertise, marrying his legal training in estate planning to his experience as both a single-family office generalist and a private-client advisor.
He advises highly successful families through a consultative, fee-based approach to help them get the most out of their life insurance portfolios. He aims to be an objective source of guidance, whether it involves initiating new insurance plans or delivering ongoing service and in-force policy management. He consults on complex techniques involving estate planning, life insurance finance, private placement life insurance, charitable planning and the efficient transfer of wealth across generations.
Since 2022, Jacob has taught Insurance Planning at Northwestern University’s CFP training program.
Prior to NFP Insurance Solutions, Jacob was an advisor in the Chicago office of Lenox Advisors, a New York-based wealth management firm owned by NFP. At Lenox, Jacob and his team of financial planners gained a reputation for helping high-income professionals and entrepreneurs mitigate taxes, plan for retirement and leave a legacy for future generations using insurance-backed strategies.
Jacob graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University with a focus on tax, trusts and estates. He began his career at GVW Group, a single family office-owned private holding company in Highland Park IL. There he performed due diligence for investment opportunities and ran special projects for the firm’s operating companies, working closely with the Chairman and various executive committees.
Jacob resides in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood with his wife and children. He volunteers on working committees for Partners Financial and is a member of Finseca and the Chicago Estate Planning Council. Outside of work he is a racquet sports enthusiast and enjoys spending time with his family.
